Review: Caveau Wine Bar

Caveau wine bar has set itself as one of the most affordable joints to enjoy the drink of gods. A little hideout in town without being too crowded yet and I hope it stays as it is this way. Earthy tones and romantic lighting add to that hold-me-close feeling as you are seduced by your selection and a smattering of tapas. All in a casual non pretentious manner.

MF and I were first invited here a Friday night, two weeks ago. It was a lovely night. Timothy Goh the chef sommelier of the Les Amis group - charming and sauvy with tremendous knowledge on wine showed us the latest offering. With a decent selection of wines from entry level to high end, plus their 16 options from the Enomatic dispensing machine as well as tasty small plates ensures good relaxing conversations.
Sit at one of Caveau cozy tables, hang out at the bar and share a bottle of Merlot with a platter of Iberico ham around the tall table over looking the street. The small plates sure are decadent too which highlights the best appetizers from its new neighbors, Annam and Bistro Du Vin.

Char-grilled salt & chili squid $15
Spicy crispy fried Live Frog's legs $15
Escargot, garlic herbs butter and tomato concasse $16
Iberico Ham Platter $30

With its name, Caveau, the new wine bar at Shaw Centre, guarantees good chill night to schmooze with your pals.
