Review: La Pizzaiola

Quattro Stagioni Pizza

La Pizzaiola is a homely little gem of an italian pizzeria, nestled in the Braddell Height Estates (Jalan Riang) and a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of NEX shopping mall. It is also the latest F&B addition to the likes of Fat Cat, Jules and Wimbly Lu along the residential enclave. Some may remember La Pizzaiola of Holland Drive fame and yes, this is its second incarnation, owned by the same guys who run Pietrasanta at Portsdown Road. La Pizzaiola is currently helmed by a new chef from Milan and the food here reflects the heartiness of Northern Italy. All in all, La Pizzaiola offers great food and a great price - 12" pizzas for $14-17, pastas for $13-15 and house wine for just $8 a glass. That's hard to beat!

Happy to report that on my third visit (La Pizzaiola opened about 3 weeks ago), the usual kinks have been ironed out. Proper menus have been printed, the credit card machine has arrive and the service staff are on top form - my ice water arrived as soon as I sat down and chair pulled out for my bag without any prompting.

Angel Hair with spicy arrabiata sauce

I like that arrabiata sauce was well flavoured lots of fresh tomatoes, garlic and chillies and the warm crusty foccaccia bread soaked up the remaining arrabiata sauce nicely.

The real standout has to be the thin-crust pizza - baked in a traditional stone-oven imported from Italy. We tried the Quattro Stagioni which comes topped generously with Tomato, mozzarella, artichoke, ham, mushroom and olives. Great for sharing!

Please do leave some room for La Pizzaiola's Caramel Panna Cotta. The almost toffee-like caramel and the rich vanilla-infused cream is real treat and perfect way to end the meal.
